Inka has extensive experience in strategic leadership of nature and sustainability work, as well as managing stakeholder relationships and sustainability risks. She is well-versed in emerging legislative requirements (e.g., CSRD, CSDDD) and frameworks supporting nature work (e.g., TNFD, SBTN), and has led related projects for various types and sizes of clients. Inka has specialised expertise in the intersections of business’s social and environmental impacts.
Johanna has extensive experience in managing environmental impacts within corporate procurement and supply chains. Her experience includes impact assessments and environmental programs, voluntary certification systems, water protection programs and action plans, and the implementation of sustainability regulations and standards.
Paloma has worked in nature policy for nearly two decades, both in NGOs and political organizations. With a background in biology, she has strong ecological expertise, knowledge of domestic and international nature-related legislation, and extensive experience in implementing regulations, particularly in land use. Paloma is also an experienced stakeholder engagement professional.
Viivi has a multidisciplinary perspective on implementing sustainability transitions, along with experience in research collaboration and science-based societal engagement. She is also skilled in participatory stakeholder work and in reconciling diverse values. Viivi’s background in the human sciences—particularly in cultural environments, nature-based recreation, and human–nature relationships—provides her with a unique viewpoint on sustainability. At Luontoa, Viivi is responsible for project coordination, communications, and stakeholder collaboration.
Lauri has vast experience in environmental impact assessments, development of voluntary frameworks and certification systems related to nature goals, and development of measurement and monitoring methods. He has specialised expertise in modelling of business-related nature and climate risks and assessing their economic impacts.
Lauri has over 15 years of international experience in sustainable natural resource management and business development. His expertise lies in developing and implementing measurement, planning, and monitoring systems for business-related environmental impacts, as well as utilising geospatial data and artificial intelligence in assessing environmental and climate impacts.
Jani Hohti works as a doctoral researcher in the Regenerative Use of Forests (Uudistava metsien käyttö) project led by Luontoa. He is pursuing his PhD at the University of Jyväskylä. In the project, Jani focuses on developing ecological criteria for regenerative forest use. He holds a degree in conservation biology.
Jani has previously worked on a wide range of nature-related topics, including nature footprint and ecological impact assessments, as well as developing models for ecological compensation. He was part of the research team at the University of Jyväskylä that contributed to the nature footprint calculations for S-Group.
Jani is driven by a desire to deepen his understanding of nature and contribute to building a more sustainable future for the environment.
Rosario Galán is an international expert in sustainability, biodiversity, and nature-based solutions. She has worked on the implementation and revision of the IUCN Global Standard for Nature-based Solutions, contributed to the development of Forest Stewardship Council (FSC) certification systems and its Climate and Biodiversity Strategic Framework. She also has experience in the Kunming–Montreal Global Biodiversity Framework (KMGBF). Rosario has specialised in forest management, ecosystem services, and climate change adaptation, including Climate Action Plans in tourism. She also has worked with the integration of social dimensions to support local communities. Working with the different certification and global frameworks has given Rosario a keen eye for details.
At Luontoa, Rosario supports the company’s work on international forestry and biodiversity projects, ensuring the highest quality and rigor in sustainability assessments and solutions.
Associate Professor, conservation biologist, and university lecturer Panu Halme enhances Luontoa’s ecological expertise and brings the latest scientific knowledge into Luontoa’s work. Panu is a respected researcher and public commentator, having participated in numerous research and study projects to investigate environmental impacts across sectors and develop actions towards nature positivity. Recently, one of his main research topics has been the development of ecological compensation.
Hanna Paulomäki is an ecologist with extensive experience in biodiversity, nature conservation, sustainable development, and the energy transition. She has worked, among others, in the Finnish Nature Panel and in leadership positions in various NGOs. She is currently pursuing a PhD at LUT University, where her research focuses on the socio-ecological impacts of the energy transition in the context of land-use change. Hanna is committed to developing research-based practical solutions and advancing policy change.
Hanna is also the author and editor of the book Designing Energy Systems within Planetary Boundaries – A Textbook for Energy Engineers (2025). The book guides the design of renewable energy systems in ways that support ecological sustainability while avoiding environmental risks.
As a skilled communicator and network builder, Hanna bridges science and decision-making to promote a more sustainable future, and supports Luontoa’s work particularly in energy sector client projects.
Hanna Skelly is a seasoned impact investing and sustainable development professional with more than 20 years of experience. She has worked across development finance institutions and private-sector impact investment firms, evaluating opportunities against a broad range of strategies and requirements. Her expertise spans diverse business models, investment strategies, and financial instruments. Hanna brings extensive knowledge in land use, environmental and social risk management, and the application of sustainability standards, including the IFC Performance Standards, FSC Principles and Criteria, and VCS criteria for land use projects. She is deeply committed to aligning the interests of public, private, and philanthropic stakeholders to maximize positive impact, foster environmental and social sustainability, and advance climate change mitigation and adaptation efforts.
